My Favorite Artist

My mother-in-law is an artist. She's not one of those people who SAY they're artists but really aren't that good. This woman has serious talent. She's amazing. I love all of her work, but I do have an absolute favorite. It was a Christmas gift for Jamie and I a few years back.  Even if wasn't made FOR US and with us in mind, I would still love it. It's beautiful, isn't it?
But the fact that it carries such personal detail and meaning makes it even more spectacular. Let's look closer, shall we??
There are so many cool layers to this painting. You can actually find a couple of photos of us if you look closely...How cool is that?!

I want to share with you Mary Jo's description of it, since the artist describes it best!
"There are butterflies scattered around, but my favorite is the white area at the top...it's
your house...full of butterflies.

The circles represent dreams and the
"railroad tracks" speak to where you both have been and where you will
be going...The green patches of course say "baseball" and  the lines with squiggles are laughter and music. Anything else in there is whatever you see in your view. Even the things I am pointing out can
be whatever you guys see in it..."

This painting is the focal point of our living room. It sits above our couch for everyone to see.  Every time I look at it, I see new symbols and new meanings. It is so amazing to see our love and our life depicted so perfectly on canvas.  Looking at it reminds me of the vibrance and happiness that I am so lucky to be surrounded by and a part of.
Thanks again, Mary Jo Parker O'Hearn!

oh i absolutely LOVE it ... i've recently started doing an 'art journal' - and am learning to paint - i feel rather elementary at it right now but i tell yo, it is SO therapeutic. I know you would doing it, too. Your mother-in-law is extremely talented. such a beautiful, meaningful painting!
